Poetry from an internship
This summer I had a job, I worked at Hack Club for four weeks. It would be in the quiet moments, the ones where I’m ticked off and have no one to talk to, where I would just write poetry. Not a lot — there’s 6 poems. They’re disjointed, short, barely edited, they have no larger point now other than to look at and go “Yep that’s my life!”, but where the other blogs will rave about how cool the Hack Club internship is, this one will just sit, indifferent.
For some context I got in June 21st so there was a good amount of time before the before the first poem. I was settling in, focusing on work, making friends, it took a while for me to figure out who everyone was.
July 3rd, 1:10AM
ac broke
they tried to fix it
now they sit in a hotel lobby
July 3rd, 1:18AM
she waits outside the door
the summer heat doesnt change the fact
he's still at the office
July 4th, 11:46PM
250 years
and they never learned to sing on key
the flat diet coke lingers in my mouth
July 11th, 9:09PM
so much money, so little time,
lost, dead phone, parking lot, thinking im fine
July 12th, 11:52
wandering chinatown,
bickering about the fleeting time we have left
sauerkraut chicken hot pot, hot boba pearls
life as it is, is fine
July 15th, 10:43
sometimes i wonder what its like
to sit there laying, the men rush in
though a system you dont understand
your parents directly across the world
i don't know how quick it hits you
your loafers against ice skates
would be a loosing fight
That’s that. Not too long, most of these I probably only know what they mean! I might write a full post mortem, but the more likely option is that I just get on with my life. I have things to do.
